Time To Start Looking For A Maternity Swimsuit
Swimsuit season is fast approaching and with Spring Break coming up many expecting moms may find themselves heading to some warm beaches for vacation destinations. Whether you are headed to sunny beach destination or just signing up for a water aerobics class, there is a good chance you will need a maternity swimsuit at some point in your pregnancy. There is also a good chance that you will not, and should not, try to fit into your pre-pregnancy swimsuit. Fortunately there are a lot of cute styles on the market to choose from in maternity swimwear. Here are a few ideas:
Halterkinis and Tankinis and are wonderful alternative to a solid one-piece or an all out bare all bikini (which most of us don’t have the guts to wear when expecting – or otherwise!). The Halterkini and Tankini or some other word derivative with more or less the same meaning is a 2 piece suit with either an adjustable halter tie top or tank style straps and a belly skimming top. Bottoms are usually below the belly and sometimes have adjustable side ties – which is good if your hips seem to be growing at the rate of your belly during your pregnancy! The Halter and Tankinis usually come in a wide variety of solids and patterns. Sometimes the bottoms are a solid with the top a pattern which gives a cute accent. Both of these styles of maternity swimwear allow you to be a bit flirtatious and stylish while not flashing a big pregnant belly to the world if that’s not your thing.
The Babydoll style is an even more modest yet fashionable style to choose from if you want full belly coverage and more bottom and hip coverage too. Prego Maternity Swimwear has both a Tank BabyDoll and Halter BabyDoll styles that come in a wide array of colors and patterns. Both of these styles provide maximum bust support and have high fitting bottoms that fully cover your belly and a dress style top that covers your bottom too without looking prudish.
If you are looking for flattering tummy coverage in a pool lounge maternity swimsuit, then the Strapless Mini is a good option. The mini comes in a variety of solids and patterns and often has a removable halter string for a little extra protection if you do decide to brave the waves or swim a few laps. The mini often gives more bottom coverage with the top and has separate bottoms.

So whatever your maternity swimwear personality, there is a flattering style out there for you and probably in your choice of color or pattern. Most maternity swimsuits are made with plenty of spandex to take you through your entire pregnancy. Padded bras are usually preferable and add a little extra support for maternity swimwear, so check your online product descriptions or call the store if you are shopping online for your purchase. So, have fun in the sun and don’t wait until the last minute to find your perfect suit.
