This article suggests 10 Short European Breaks cities that provide great destinations.
1: Aachen: Aachen was an ancient Roman Spa Town and the home to the court. No fewer than thirty Roman Emperors have been crowned in the city. Destroyed by fire in 1556 the city was rebuilt in Baroque style. At Christmas time, stalls are covered in pretty lights and offer all sorts of delightful produce, confectionary and Christmas gifts. 2. Amsterdam: Just about one of the easiest places on the continent to get to from the UK and one of the best! Amsterdam is famed for its canals lined by wonderful architecture; its laid back and liberal atmosphere; and the quality of the nightlife. Get there by plane, train or automobile, you& are guaranteed a fab time. Amsterdam’s perfect for a special party, short break or super weekend away. 3. Bangkok: Bangkok is surprisingly easy for a short break or weekend away – don’t worry about losing precious time sleeping – you won’t want to! Bangkok Spas and health clubs are at prices to die for, as is the shopping; and all the day and night time activities. 4.Barcelona: Life at its best with the shops and sophistication of Le Ramblas; masses of night clubs and restaurants to choose from; and a much better climate than the UK make a Barcelona weekend ideal for a winter break. 5. Brugge: One of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities is also home to chocolate – which is a good enough reason to go in our book. But it is a lot more – it can be quiet and relaxing but has plenty of opportunities for activities and night life too. 6. Brussels: Lot of fun and a great place for activity weekends as well as sightseeing and cultural trips. It is a modern European capital with all the shopping and facilities that you would expect. 7. Budapest: A beautiful old city with lots of activity options and spas, Budapest deserves a look. And it’s a relatively cheap trip – Budapest prices will make you want to go back again and again! The night life is good, the local’s friendly and the beer cheap. 8. Cologne: A classic European city trip, Cologne is big enough to be truly vibrant and cosmopolitan, but small enough to get to know properly on a short break or weekend. Cologne Cathedral is internationally famous and acts as the focus of a great city centre. 9. Dublin: Tours of the Guinness brewery and trips in the bay to try the famous prawns will set you up for a great night out in the pubs and clubs. Dublin has an atmosphere all of its own and gets under your skin. 10. Koh Samui: It is a fabulous island in the Gulf of Siam – long the favourite of independent travellers who want Thailand without the trash.
