Tips to Help You in Selecting Prom Dresses
Choosing a dress for your prom is probably the most exciting event in your life up to this point. When you see the large selection of prom dresses available, you may become overwhelmed because you don’t know which of the beautiful gowns to choose. Tall and Thin
If you are tall and slender, with not a lot of curves, an Empire-style dress will give you the appearance of having a fuller chest. When you add details below the waist, such as bows, it will make you seem as if you have the prefect figure. A dress with a full skirt or an A-line cut will make you seem a little less slender and will make you look shorter. If you choose a dress with details or a pattern, it will give more definition to the shape of your body. A girl with a silhouette figure looks spectacular in a sheath dress. You should choose a dress that will show off your long legs. For girls with this body shape, a low neckline or a plunging back design works really well.
Petite
So you’re short! So what! You can make yourself appear taller when you wear a sheath prom dress. You can also wear one with a short hemline so that you show off your legs and this will make you look taller. There are different styles of hemlines you can experiment with, such as ruffled, hi/low, symmetrical, etc. If you have a short waist an A-line or Empire-style dress will work wonders by taking the emphasis off your waistline and elongate the dress.
Hourglass Figure
If you have a curvy figure, choose a dress that will show off your hourglass shape with a form-fitting sheath dress. If your hips are a little larger, an A-line cut or a ball gown will take the attention away from that part of your body. A strapless dress that comes in tight at the waist and then flares out would be the perfect design.
Full-Figured
Oh you’re looking at all the tiny dresses and wishing you could fit into one of them. Well you can get one of these designs that will let your beauty shine on the night of your prom. For the full-figured girl, there are dresses with slimming styles that won’t cling to your body like a second skin. An A-line style dress is slimmer at the waist and flows around your lower body. A ball gown with a corseted waist will highlight your torso while hiding your fuller figure. An Empire-style gown will draw attention to your bustline and flow gracefully over the rest of your body.
Pear-Shaped
Girls with a small bust and a larger lower body are said to have a pear-shaped body. Choose a dress that accentuates your bustline and flows loosely over the rest of your body. A dress with a narrow bodice works best for this shape in an A-line or Empire-style dress.
