How do you get nail polish out of Rabbit Fur?
I need to find out how to get nail polish out of a real rabbit without hurting her.Shoul I just leave it to shed out or should i keep combing.WHAT SHOULD I DO?!
If it is a large amount, away from the eyes, and against the skin, go ahead and dab and gently scrub it off with acetone nail polish remover (no fragrance. Try VERY hard not to spread it. After you think you’ve gotten off as much as you can, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse. Towel dry THEN use a hair dryer set on med/low to make her fur bone dry down to the skin. Keep one finger in the air flow so that you can always know exactly what the temp is. Keep the dryer moving. The acetone will not hurt her skin if she has no cuts/scrapes on her and you will be rinsing it completely off her.
If the nail polish is away from her eyes and just on the ends of her fur, use a comb to comb under it. Leave the comb in place (don’t comb through). With the comb tines between the skin and the nail polish, use blunt nosed scissors to cut out the dry nail polish. The comb tines will protect your rabbit from getting cut. Keep moving the comb around and cutting until you get out the polish.
I think it is better to do what you can to get the polish off so that she does not lick it and ingest all those horrible ingredients.
Worst case scenario, you fashion a little cone for her head and take her into the vet or groomer’s for shaving.
