Picking The Perfect Dress

Finding the perfect dress can be a complicated procedure; do you opt for style over colour, length over fit, material over look? Whatever your preference a dress can say a lot about you so choosing wisely can not only leave you looking great but feeling at your absolute best.

Dresses come in all different shapes and styles so picking your ideal piece can be a complicated business. If you have a specific event to go to then the dress code might already be set out for you. This should make picking out an outfit easier but always make sure you research the event carefully so you don’t end up feeling out of place. If you’re looking for a formal gown for a ball, prom or black tie event then it’s best to always choose a classic, elegant style. Long dresses are a favourite of upscale events so if in doubt try to choose a long flowing dress that will not only flatter your figure but will help you to feel beautiful and confident throughout the evening.

If you’re looking for something to wear on a night out with the girls you can really go all out. This is the perfect time to experiment with styles and colour and if in doubt ask a friend to give you impartial critique of your chosen outfit. As a rule of thumb, always check with your friends what they will be wearing so you don’t suffer the nightmare of turning up at a nightclub in exactly the same dress.

If you’re after an everyday dress then really anything goes. This is the time for you to let loose so try not to place too many restrictions on yourself. Pick styles and colours that you love and try experimenting by going to new shops to find your own individual look. Items of clothing always look better on a person than on a hanger so if you’re not sure about something always try it on before dismissing it, it could just be the perfect dress you’re looking for.

Once you’ve found your perfect dress it’s time to start the fun process of accessorising. Pick out some of your favourite jewellery and see if it matches your outfit. If you’re lucky you will have the perfect accessories to hand but don’t be disheartened if your trinkets don’t complement the clothes as you can pick up some lovely inexpensive pieces from most high street stores. If you’re going for an extravagant dress pick out some simple shoes that won’t compete with your outfit. If your dress is a simple shape and colour try to get your hands on some killer heels so you can wow your friends, and the boys, when you go out.

So whether you opt for an in style maxi dress or a simple black mini, choosing a dress that you love will not only see you looking good but can be a great confidence boost to your self-esteem so you can leave the house knowing you look and feel like a million dollars.
