Is the Pint Glass Half Empty Or Half Full?
The pint glass is a source of happiness and helps people enjoy the magic of beer in countries around the world.
The pint glass and what comes in it is often the source of vivid discussion, debate and argument. Served chilled in a pint glass, and in the right environment, a good beer comes with good company and a good conversation.
How many times have you sat in a bar and overheard two guests discussing the content in the pint glass standing in front of them. Are the glasses empty? Or half full?
The pessimist will say that a glass is half empty (and generally consider life from a more negative perspective), while the optimist (and often a beer lover) will consider the glass half full. Correction; the pint glass stands half full. No matter what side you take in the debate, as a delivery vehicle of the beloved beverage called beer, the pint glass and what’s in it, is associated with good times, and times of celebration for most.
A pint of lager, stout, ale or just – beer – is enjoyed during every day marked as celebratory in your calendar. From Christmas to birthdays, to Easter to weddings. If you’ve ever been to an Irish funeral, you’ll know that even during the darkest passages of life, people are known to enjoy a pint or two. It is often during these moments of mourning that certain cultures have adopted the tradition of smashing the pint glass at the end of a salute, speech or ceremony in honor of the deceased. A second, or third stock of pint glasses is therefore recommended to replenish and refill thirsty attendants.
But it doesn’t take a special holiday or event to enjoy a pint glass of cold beer. Going for an “after work” beer or just slipping into the local pub or bar is a common stress relieving activity that is enjoyed every day by millions of people in cities and small towns. Most bars in metropolitan cities are bustling around five serving up pints in a seemingly endless stream.
And it is during rush hours at “after work” where the debate goes on. The pubs are packed with optimists and pessimists arguing whether the pints is half full or half empty. An occasional cynic might add that the glass is cracked, which puts a whole new light on the debate revolving the pints.
Whatever the reason, and however you are enjoying your beer, beer is as a source of happiness and celebration, and an indisputable friend and if you are not drinking it by the pint-size, in a pint glass, you are simply not a team player and you’re not drinking it right!
