What the bikini yellow with different colored polka dots or colored with yellow polka dots?
The popular 1960s song, “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”, needs some clarification. Which was it? Yellow polka dots or yellow bikini? According to the Yoplait commercial, it was a yellow bikini with red polka dots. I think this is a question without a real answer!!!
The song refers to a bathing suit that has yellow polka dots. The bikini is presumably white or black, as was keeping with the trends when the song was released. I think yoplait uses red dots on a yellow bikini for a more modern appeal. But to answer your question in short, the bikini in the song was X color with yellow polka dots. Vance wrote the song about a bikini his wife bought with yellow polka dots on it, and didn’t have the nerve to wear it, so she cut and sewed it to fit their two year old daughter.
