Coat Jacket
What type of coat/ jacket is the warmest?
I’m a Texas girl who doesn’t do cold weather, traveling to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks and need to go shopping. I know very, very little about jackets. What fabric is the warmest??
What else would you need there besides a coat, hat, gloves, scarf, and 5 layers of clothes?
Nice thick wool socks will mean you can survive without heavy boots. A must! Get mittens instead of gloves if you plan to be outdoors much. Make sure the scarf has some bulk and length. The hat should be able to cover your ears and the down your neck a bit. Boots if you plan to be outdoors much. A thick coat is less important if you layer. Have some undershirt that is light, but has long sleeves and up to your neck. All your “layers” should be long sleeved. Light long underwear for extended periods outdoors, and heavier fabric trousers such as jeans. The best thing is a “tube scarf”(not sure what they are called) which you can pull over your mouth and even nose if needed. Your jacket should have enough room to house all those “layers”. And unzip if you start to sweat. Sweating can result in becoming very cold once your body activity stops.
P.S. If you are staying at a friends, call. They usually have duplicates of many items that they would borrow.
