Why did most of the top rappers start their career in the 2000 era?
Ive noticed that most of the biggest rappers currently started becoming famous around 1998-2002. For Example Kanye, TI, 50 Cent, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, The Game. Is there a reason for this?
Hip-hop shifted around that time and the whole thing became more commercial. Prior to 1998, the leading artists were Biggie, Wu, Mobb Deep, etc. Then the whole hip-hop genre became more commercial and the new acts began to take over.
