What are some black convict tank mates that will fit in a 38gallon tank?(giving free best answer)?
I have a 38 gallon tank with all the accessores. 100 pounds of rock,filter,therometer, plants, logs etc . Im considering buying convicts in a couple months. Since i have a communty tank set up atm. And want to give a different style a shot. Give me a list of fish that can go in a tank with convicts. Some detail if possble to.

Well if your adding convicts then no other none cichlids except for catfish that get big or armoured. Salvini and fire mouths work ok with them. I have Pictus catfish and clown plecos with mine so I know those work as long as they have nice hiding spots and wood for the clown plecos to eat. Other than that not much. Like I said, other similar sized Cichlids and catfish. Good Luck

Convicts will eventually claim a territory, and when they do, they will probably drive all other fish into one small corner of the tank. They are not good community tank fish.

I usually see Convicts in the store with Firemouth Meekis or Kribensis, Texas Cichlids will get too big over time. Many other cichlids would be too aggressive. You might try green or gold Severum or at least ask the pet store owner if they would be a good blend. Jack Dempseys might be ok for a while but they get rather large also. Giant Danios are fast. Maybe some Bala Sharks I think the Danios would be safe and the Severum would be a hearty tank mate. I would ask the people at a trusted pet store you know before you buy them “roomies” lol
