All You Need To Know About Black Satin Shoes
When it comes to formal footwear, nothing quite makes a statement like a black satin shoe. The satin shoe is probably one of the silkiest and luxe pieces of footwear a person can put on their feet. Although a pair of shoes made entirely out of black satin may seem a tad boring and limited at times, the fact is that black satin shoe styles are getting more interesting as time passes. There are literally thousands of designs out there in the market that can be worn for any occasion.
Let’s start from the bottom: flats. With the recent popularity of flat shoes by a handful of designers like Tory Burch, black satin flats have been popping up more recently than ever before. Prior to the flats craze, it seemed that the only satin flats that were available out there were ballerina shoes. Now many manufacturers have come out with great styles for everyone. Certainly, many have produced a great number of ballerina-inspired black satin flats, but different styles like t-straps, ankle strap, and even peep toe satin flats have appeared more recently. What’s great about a satin flat is its casual, laid back appeal. You can wear satin flat with virtually anything. From a chic pair of skinny jeans to a beautiful flowy dress, it proves that this shoe is not only comfortable, but versatile.
But if you’re in the look for something not too flat and not too tall, a mid-heel black satin shoe is right for you. When I think of a mid-heel satin shoe I immediately think of those classic women of the 1950′s where they would pair their best A-line cocktail dress with a dainty satin shoe. One of the best examples I’ve seen of a beautiful vintage mid-heel black satin pump is a Salvatore Ferragamo shoe that screamed of Audrey Hepburn; with its two-inch heel, slightly pointed toe and accent jewel brocade attached on the front. Satin shoes of this height really have a timeless feel to it.
Finally, probably one of the most popular most varied and most beloved of all black satin shoes is the high-heeled pump. Maybe it’s because black satin heels have the ability to add a little sophistication to an outfit. However, the biggest misconception about this particular style of shoes is that it is only good for special evening events. That’s just not true. Sure brands like Nina have a wide variety of strappy satin pumps made for formal functions, but you can just as well find a great pair of black satin pumps to show off in the daytime. The trick is that if you’re going to wear satin pumps during the day opt for a closed toe or peep-toe shoe. You can pair it with causal dark denim or be like fashion icon Dita Von Tesse and find a vintage 50′s flower day dress to go with it.
Although some may debate that the black satin shoe is only made for formal attire, I beg to differ. With all the different designs and heights out there in the stores, there is no reason why the black satin shoe cannot be worn anytime of the day.
