Ball Gown

can i cut out the underskirt of my ball gown to make it more evening dress than bridemaids dress?

i have bought this dress for a casino night and now realised with the skirt all poofy, it isnt the right type of dress

is it possible to cut out the netting and underskirts underneatht to make the top layer hang closer to my legs??

going to a kames bond casino night and the dress it a basques style ball gown in grey satin
Whitney – is it then possible to reattach?

That’s actually a really good idea! I’ve altered a few of my own dresses to make them more appropriate for other situations, and I find it helps if, instead of cutting out the poofy under skirts, you use a seam popper (i’m not sure what it’s really called, but its a small tool used for undoing stitching) to cut the threads holding the netting and whatnot, so that you don’t have a weird line in your dress where there is still some fabric underneath.
